Be a Rebel – events and races in 2018!

Mud races, night races, running races, triathalons, Island races, beach races… you name it… It’s time to ‘don your Sapphire Rebel event tee as 2018 is looking HUGE! Here are some of the events and races we will be taking part in over the year:

3rd of MarchThe Mighty Deerstalker – A 10k and then some which is run in the dark.

17th of MarchNewburgh Beach Bash – If you want a decent medal and a great selection of cakes post-race get involved with this one!  A 10k along the beach,  currently sold out but keep your eyes peeled for ticket swaps or get your name on the waiting list.

25th of MarchRun Garioch – You have the options of 5k, 10k or Half Marathon and there is always a good crowd of Rebels taking part.

8th of AprilGlen Livett 10k – “…the most beautiful run in Scotland…” with the possiblity of a miniature whiskey which might sway a few of you ;)

21st/22nd of AprilRun Balmoral – again you have the option of a 5k, 10k, Duathalon and 15 mile trail race… if you’re feeling brave you can sign up to the Devil of Deeside, which is all 4! *do it do it do it*

29th AprilStirling Half / Marathon – This year there’s the option of a half marathon or a full marathon and it’s not too far away from home either!

20th of MayBaker Hughes 10k – Another big Rebel run-event and a great one for support, atmosphere and smashing those PB’s.

16th of June – Tough Mudder – This will be our third year taking part,  join the team,  get an awesome headband and you can either camp it or go for a nearby B&B.

24th of June – Ythan Challenge – We have only heard good things about this one and a few Rebels have done it before! It’s a multi-terrain adventure race which includes straw bales, killer hills and the river itself!

7th of July – Harris Half Marathon – After the success of Skye last year some of the Rebels are organising a trip to the Isle of Harris for the half marathon,  you can spectate or join in for the run!

12th of August – SUPathon – A nice local race including a SUP on knochburn loch,  a 3k run and a 10k off road bike route. You have the option to do it individually or get some Rebels together and take part in a team of 2 or 3! 

18th / 19th of August – Aberfeldy Triathalon – The option of a sprint triathlon or (ever so slightly) longer triathlon. Could be a great weekend adventure!

26th of August – Great Aberdeen Run – When it’s on your doorstep you can’t exactly say no can you? *you can’t* 1/2 marathon or 10k.

1st of September – Inverness Beast Race – The Rebels are returning to Inverness for the Beast Race after absolutely loving it out there in 2017! Speak to your trainer to join the team.

1st of September – Gung ho 5k – Aberdeen’s first inflatable Obstacle course happening at Castle Fraser! A Rebel dream event. 

1st – 2nd of September Glenmore24 – They’re only running an individual race this year,  so you have the option to sign up to run for the 12 hours or 24 hours…! Quite a few Rebels have already signed up to this, so get involved to either run or support for the weekend. 

22nd of September – Banchory Beast Race – If you don’t make it along to the Inverness Beast Race,  get involved with the Banchory one! Usually our biggest event of the year, with an epic after-party. 

7th of October – Bennachie Hill Race – Another favourite hill race which we’ve been attending since 2014! It’s got that great local feel to it with lots of cakes to enjoy afterwards which you well and truly deserve. The views at the top are epic!

13th of October – Loch Kinord 10k – if you don’t do this for the views of the Loch do it for the goodie bag! Another race with a. great local vibe.

14th of October – Aviemore10k & 1/2 marathon – Another great one for a PB! A lot of downhill and some beautiful scenery along the way.  In 2017 we made a camping weekend of it too! 

27th of October – Illuminator Night Run – A  great 15 mile route through Glentanar at night,  but you have the option to run or walk it.

27th of October – Glack Attack – A really fun and probably the MUDDIEST ever 5k run you could do. All about having fun with lots of natural obstacles.
