Frequently Asked Questions

Questions we get before your first boot camp!

So you’re thinking about attending your first Rebel boot camp class but there are a million questions going round in your head. It’s daunting starting something new we know! You don’t know anyone there, you try to drag a friend along but they might not be quite as brave as you and anyway they think you’re crazy to even consider doing an outdoors bootcamp… they’ve heard stories about them!

Here’s our thoughts on the matter:

Exercise should be enjoyed! Crazy Right!!!  It’s a long term thing, not a short term goal. It’s for the better of both physical and mental health. There are huge benefits of doing this with other people for social reasons and motivation. Sometimes life gets in the way. You might have a week off, a month off, 9 months off, 3 years off! That’s alright, time to get back on the wagon and get into a routine.

So let us help you out with some of the questions you might have:

How fit do I need to be?

The answer is… zero fit! Woohoo that means you can start NOW! The amount of people who tell us that they want to get fit before joining baffles our minds! We all started somewhere and you are more likely to get fit with a great bunch of people encouraging and pushing you compared to a solo effort of forcing yourself to do something you’re not that excited about.

What if I’m last?

The amount of people who worry about being the slowest or least unfit at a class makes us really sad. People are meant to run, jump, crawl, sweat and play and you do this on your own terms.

Remember you are doing this for you so there is absolutely no need to worry about what anyone else is doing or how fast they are doing it.

We also organise our sessions so you can push yourself as hard as you feel comfortable which means the faster people are always pushed a little bit further and harder and anyone taking it slower can rest when they need without feeling the pressure of holding people up and still get a good workout!

What should I wear and bring with me?

Comfortable clothing such as leggings,  joggers or shorts with a t-shirt and all items you are happy to get wet or muddy. You should wear trainers or running shoes with socks. Because the weather can be temperamental, you may also like to bring waterproofs if you have them. Gloves and a hat also make a huge difference.  We also recommend a dry jumper and towel for afterwards, particularly if it has been raining, and a carrier bag for your car seat on the way home!

Finally bring a water bottle, important to hydrate mate!

What is a Rebel PT training session like?

Fun! (are we allowed to say that?). We work hard on making the sessions, social, supportive and encouraging!

You can work at your own pace, you can make the sessions easier or harder for yourself and there is absolutely no need to keep up with anyone else there. All we ask is that your provide the same support for others that they provide for you!

What should my goals be?

Good question! If you’re just getting into training, we recommend you take it slow. Build up to getting a regular routine down. Aim to come once a week, if that’s achievable and you can add a few more session in then that’s perfect.

Some of our members want to just be able to run round the park, do a push up off their knees, or just finish a session without feeling like they are going to die. All great goals

Others aim set challenges like climbing munro’s, swimming in the sea, exploring as much of Scotland as possible.

Others set challenges like running 10k in under 40 minutes, a sub 3 hour marathon, cycling from one side of Scotland to the other.

There are a million different goals you can set yourself, share them with those around you. If you need help ask a trainer and we’ll help you find your mojo!

What if it’s raining?

If it’s raining, you’re training. If it’s snowing, you’re going! I mean boot camp in Aberdeen is never going to be all sunshine and rainbows

We don’t cancel sessions and are big believers of getting out whatever the weather. No better way than combating a long day in the office or breaking up the routine by getting outdoors and getting muddy!

How much does it cost?

After you’ve tried out your first session, and have hopefully decided that you want more, we go by monthly memberships. It is one session a week for £30 a month or unlimited sessions for £39 a month. The memberships are very flexible as you can go to any park, any day and even switch between Bootcamp and Prams in the Park sessions. We understand that life doesn’t always run clockwork so you can mix it up when you need to.

Can I do pay as you go?

No we don’t offer pay per session classes. This is because at Rebel we want to turn training into a lifestyle by building a community. You can look forward to seeing regular faces and making friends at training. We found before that pay as you go didn’t offer the same consistency and didn’t build the community in the way we wanted.  Plus if you manage to make 2 classes a week then you are paying under a fiver per class, even less if you manage to come along more often! Now that IS motivation!!
